Tiago da Silva is a professional sound engineer, location sound mixer, boom operator, sound designer, sound editor, multi-instrumentalist, composer, orchestrator, music producer, and virtual instrument programmer. He was born in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais, Brazil and grew up in Boston, Massachusetts before settling in Austin, Texas.
Music and sound have been an ever-present part of his life from a young age. A self-taught musician, Tiago learned music on a cheap JC-Penney catalog acoustic guitar at age 10. By 16, he was performing live and composing all of his own material. By college, he'd already become a savvy studio recording engineer, where he studied music theory, and sound engineering at great depth.
A graduate from Berklee College of Music, he earned a degree in Orchestrating and Producing Music for Film and Games, and is a certified ASCAP Writer and Publisher. Tiago has over sixteen years of composition and music performance experience, has produced over fifteen full length studio recordings, scored six films, and has worked both on location and in post on over thirty films just over the last five years. He's passionate about the creative and collaborative process of the film industry, and driven by the power of sound to shape one's experience.
