Originally from Northern Ireland, Shane F. Kelly moved to Seattle in the early 90’s and shot on music videos for bands such as Soundgarden and Alice In Chains, eventually going on tour To film with Pearl Jam for their 1996 Asia and Australia tour.In the early 2000s, Kelly moved to Austin and began working with his now longtime collaborator, Richard Linklater, on the motion picture A Scanner Darkly. Impressed by his work, Linklater asked Kelly to work with him on Boyhood, a coming of age story that was shot over 12 years. The film was well received worldwide and won Best Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globe Awards and landed six Academy Award nominations, including Best Motion Picture of the year. The film also won Movie of the Year at both the AFI & BAFTA awards.The Kelly and Linklater collaboration didn’t stop there, they went on to work on filmssuch as, Everybody Wants Some!! which had its Gala Premiere at SXSW, Last FlagFlying starring Steve Carell, Where’d You Go Bernadette starring Cate Blanchett,Apollo 10 1⁄2 and HitMan, both for Netflix and the current release, Blue moon starring Ethan Hawke.
