Keystone Star Hotel
United States / Lampasas, Texas
Location ID: #10003701
The Keystone Star Hotel is a two story Texas stone building that served as a stage coach stop from the 1850s and a hotel until the 1930s. There is a well in the middle of the floor of the 1931 wing that was built over the garden. The building was abandoned for over 30 years and restored from 2017 to 2025. It is one block from the historic Lampasas County Courthouse square, 1 block from the 1904 Santa Fe depot, next door to a restored 1930s Humble Station that became a barber shop in the early 1950s. Elvis Presley had his hair cut there in 1958 when he was stationed at Fort Hood. The building has been restored as a private home. The back of the property has two historic buildings, one was the original Lampasas Post Office from early 1900s and the other was the stables for the hotel dating from the 1860s that is now the Lampasas County Museum. The included photos span several years but accurately portray the building in its current condition.
