Located at the heart of the historic downtown district Smythe Street is one of the original streets in Bowie, Texas - complete with bricks from the 1900s. It is home to the oldest buildings in the history of Bowie, Texas from the livery to the action of Smokey Row. The brick streets start at the railroad and continue three blocks towards downtown to the intersection with Pecan Street. Some of the bricks were made in a neighboring community. The heritage of our Second Monday Trade Days started as a tent city on these very streets in the historic district.
