Description:Tucked away in Old West Austin, a historic 1850s neighborhood of Austin, this grand-yet-understated Italianate Victorian mansion, built in 1877 sits on 1.38 acres of an old working farm or "homestead," and gardens common in the mid to late 1800s. This property has been in the same family for over 135 years and in 2019 became a historic house museum. It is now closed to the public for inside tours, but film crews will have access to the interiors which are a mix of Victorian and mid-century styles. The property is located less than ten blocks from downtown Austin and is quickly becoming a part of broader downtown Austin. The historic gardens have always been kept in a natural fashion for a rustic, lived-in look. The grounds have never been sprayed with chemicals and centuries-old trees accompany the stately columns on the front of the house, dating to 1921. This location is ideal for productions looking to capture the essence of Texas between the late 1800s through to the mid-20th Century, while remaining close-in to urban amenities that Austin has to offer.
