Description:This home is an original duplex (not a house later converted) built in 1942 during the East Texas oil boom. The street has lots of homes characteristic of that time period with arched doorways and porches and sloping roof lines. Each side of the duplex is quite large for a one bedroom at 1,000 sf. There are lots of original doors unique to the time period and each side has the original fireplace with unique peacock tiles. The bathrooms have the original cast iron tubs and the tile has just been redone but we used the square tiles with bullnose trim appropriate for the time period. Other original details are the telephone table, front door mail slot, and china cabinet built-ins. One side also has a time period jewel green scalloped couch and chair.
