Description:The City By The Sea museum owns and operates La Petite Belle, a 30' custom fiberglass/wood 1/2 scale seagoing sailboat based on the design of the 17th century wooden ocean sailing barque La Belle. The original vessel was built in Rochefort, France by Honore' Mallet; with dimensions of 54' 4" length, 14' 9" beam, 8' draft; 40-45 tonnage. The vessel would be handy for a film production as it is easily handled, can operate it the shallow waters of Matagorda Bay, takes little preparation to sail, and can be sailed by a small crew. In addition, Matagorda Bay has coastlines that are pristine which may also be an asset.
